Fiesta!

Fiesta just wrapped up here in San Antonio. It is a great celebration filled with food, parades and a carnival.

My daughter's day care celebrated by having its own parade. Each child created a "float" made from a shoebox. Then each class walked around the school showing the others kids their creations. It was adorable.

My daughter is only 21 months, so she needed some help, but she had a blast making her float. We worked on it over a few days, and she was so excited.

I used Pretty Pennants and Alphalicious for the banner. The digi image of the dancing bears is from Paper Crafting World.

Here is my Madelyn working on her float. She colored the digi with crayons, glued the paper and flowers to the box, and added glitter glue to the banner.

I was lucky enough to leave work for a bit to see the parade. It was the cutest thing. All of the kids were so proud of themselves and loved showing off their floats.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mother's Day Tag

Mother's Day is coming up in a few weeks, and this year, it falls on the same day as my mom's birthday. So, it will be extra festive this year.

I made a quick tag for one of her gifts using George and Basic Shapes for the tag and Formal Occasion for the flowers.

I stamped butterflies and the sentiment. I added a little glitter glue in gold and purple, which were $1 bin finds. I get these whenever I can, but I need to use them more. I used the gold for the first time. I finished off the tag with twine.

Pretty simple. Now I have to think about a card.

Thanks

Baby M is Coming

My sister-in-law is having a baby girl soon, and her baby shower is this weekend. I made a picture frame with her daughter's initial and a matching card.

I used Simply Charmed for the baby and cut the background mat from Formal Occasion. I added ribbon and put glitter glue on the carriage. I also added pearls to the wheels. I found those pearls in the $1 at Michaels, and I've had them for years. I also put the carriage on foam tape for dimension.

Inside the card I added another mat and a sentiment.

I also made a frame for one of her gifts. I've made these before, and they always get a great reaction.

The frame is black, so it's hard to see, especially since I took the pictures really late at night. I used Alphalicious for the letters and added ribbon to the frame. The baby shower theme and baby's room is ballet, so I added ballet slippers to the letter. I think they are from The Paper Studio.

I hope my sister-in-law likes her gifts.

Thanks

Pretty in Pink Tri-Fold Card

A few coworkers have birthdays in May, so I decided to get a head start on making cards for them.

I found this really great floral paper and decided to create a tri-fold card to show off as much of it as possible.

The center mat was cut from the Formal Occasion Cricut cartridge. The glittery butterfly is a chip board piece that I've had for a while. Then I just added pearls in the corners.

Inside the card, I used Create a Critter for the sentiment. I left a lot of open space for other coworkers to sign.

Thanks!

Get Well Friend

I made a quick get well card to keep in my stash.

I love the girly floral paper and border punch. I added blue ribbon to bring that color out a little more. I stamped the sentiment on a small banner and added the star embellishment.

I bought the embellishment months ago; I don't know why I haven't used it. It sticks on, so it is really easy to use, and has cute stitching and a button.

Inside the card I added another button from my stash.

Thanks!

Dream Vacation

I got the new Formal Occasion Cricut cartridge and just had to play with it. I created this fun card of a dream vacation spot.

This cut is so cute, and I had the perfect background paper to go with it. I just added ribbon and a sentiment. The image has a lot of detail, so I left the rest of the card simple.

I was able to use paper from my stash, and the ribbon was from a wedding favor. I just couldn't toss it, and I'm glad I got to reuse it on this project.

Ahoy!

My goddaughter is turning 3 this weekend, and we're so excited. She is having a pirate-themed party, so I wanted to make a fun birthday card for her.

I used Create a Critter for the octopus and phrase. I left off the skull on the pirate hat and added a 3 using Alphalicious. After that I decided the card was still missing something. So I made the balloon using George and Basic Shapes and used twine to tie it to the octopus.

I also used glitter glue to add sparkle to the balloon and #3. The octopus and balloon are on foam tape for dimension.

Thanks!

Pretty as a Peacock

I was going through a stack of patterned paper the other day and came across a peacock feather design. I'm not sure how long I've had this, but I figured it was time to use it.

I used purple, blue and teal to bring out the peacock colors. I used a stamp with a saying from William Butler Yeats, which I love. I then used a border punch and added ribbon and pearls. I attached the pearls with glue dots that I luckily found hiding in my pearl bag. I thought I was out, so I'm glad I found them!

I don't normally go this dark on cards, but I think it works with the theme.

Thanks

Happ-Bee Birthday

I made a quick birthday card for a friend over the weekend.

The cute bee is from the Paisley cartridge. I added ribbon, a border punch, and a little bling on the card. I was also able to use up some scraps in the process! Everything except the base of the card is from the scrap pile.

Thanks!

Under the Weather, Part 2

I really liked how my last card came out, so I decided to make another, more masculine, version. I like to have these kinds of cards in my stash in case I ever need them.

I used Create a Critter for the umbrella and cloud. I also added ribbon and bling for the raindrops. I raised the umbrella and cloud with foam tape for dimension.

Under the Weather

April is here and it brought its showers to San Antonio this week, so I decided to make a card inspired by the weather.

I used Paisley for the umbrella and Create a Critter for the cloud. I also added gems to look like falling rain. I love those little things, but I don't have very many. So I think I have to add more to my collection.

I also added another cloud on the inside.

Thanks

Life's a Beach

I've been playing around with sketches this week, and I found another one I wanted to try. This one is from Craft Your Passion. The recipe is one sketch, one patterned paper, one image, one sentiment and one embellishment.

I found a sea-themed stamp set at Tuesday Morning awhile back, and I finally got around to using it. The image is from Simply Charmed, and the "sun" is a button on chipboard. I chose the patterned background paper because it looks like waves.

Thanks!

Simple Birthday

I've been trying to spark some creativity, so I've been looking for sketches to design my cards. I saw a simple card sketch on Cricut Fanatics and decided to give it a try. I'm always trying to bulk up my birthday card stash, especially for boys, so I figured this was a great way to do it.

The balloon is cut from George and Basic Shapes and I added twine. I also put the balloon on foam tape for dimension. I added dark blue ribbon to finish it off.

Here is the inside of the card.

Man's Glory

I saw a sketch challenge on Raise the Bar and wanted to play along. It's a simple sketch, so I was able to put something together quickly.

I turned the sketch and used really pretty paper. I also went through my stash and used ribbon and the flower that I have had for years. This was also the first time I used this stamp. It is a quote from William Butler Yeats, and I really love it.

Thanks!

Hello Birthday

One of my coworkers had a birthday last week so I made her a card. She is a big fan of Hello Kitty, but I don't own that Cricut cartridge. Instead, I used stickers that I found in the dollar bin at Target.

The stickers are dimensional and full of sparkle. I added to the sparkle with blue glitter paper. The small stars are stickers, and the bigger stars were cut from George and Basic Shapes. Then I just added twine in yellow and pink to finish it off.

Here is a shot of the layers.

I tried to get a good shot of all the glitter.

And here is the inside of the card.

Thanks!
